What is a Q plate ?
- Q plates are the original number plates issued in Queensland.
- The “Q” signifies the State of Queensland.
Issued
- The first Qplate issued was Q1 in 1921
- The last Qplate issued was Q687612 in 1955
The Great Plate Auction – 1985
- The Great Queensland Plate Auction was held at the
- Sheraton Hotel on Sunday 9th June 1985
- Two categories of plates were offered:
- Prestige plates & Queensland Traditional plates
- A total of 175 plates were auctioned on the day.
- 4 Prestige plates & 169 Qplates – All were sold !
